During the week of the US Army’s 250th Birthday, DCH Subaru of Riverside (CA) gave away a brand-new 2025 Subaru Forester Touring—along with two years of financial mentorship—to US Army Specialist and Purple Heart recipient, Glenn Coplin, for his military service and ongoing support of fellow veterans.

Glenn’s Story
Glenn served in the military from 1967 to 1973 with multiple deployments, including Korea and Vietnam. During his career, he served as a Combat Engineer during the Vietnam War and was stationed in the Korean DMZ. Later, he volunteered for service in Vietnam, where he conducted road construction and mine-sweeping operations.
With over 45 years of sobriety, Glenn continues to support his fellow veterans by sharing his journey of healing. He’s found support and purpose through his local vet center, where he’s been involved in peer counseling for three decades. When fellow veterans ask him how he has stayed sober, his answer is always the same: “Remember how unhappy you were and don't go back.”
Glenn continues to mentor other veterans through his leadership with the Military Order of the Purple Heart, where he currently serves as Commander of Chapter 2929. He also helps combat-wounded veterans navigate the process of receiving their Purple Hearts and provides guidance and encouragement through their recovery.

How We Honored Glenn:
- This special veteran recognition was made possible through a partnership with Chase Bank, Lithia & Driveway (NYSE: LAD), and the Military Support Foundation.
- DCH Subaru of Riverside’s Sonya Russell and Tom Edwards demonstrated how to Take Personal Ownership in making this event so successful.
- Jon Gray, Group Vice President, encouraged LAD leaders throughout his region to attend—which they did!—and to Kris Miller, Vice President of Treasury, who helped LAD partner with Chase Bank.
