Lithia & Driveway Donates $500k, Supporting Next Generation of Technicians

People standing with a large check for 50,00.000

To recognize the valued role of auto technicians within our industry, Lithia & Driveway (LAD) recently announced that, in 2026, it would donate a portion of $500,000 to 11 of our technical school partners across the United States. Presentation checks ranging in various amounts were sent to each school’s automotive program in January.

Nearly all of the technical schools are located in small, rural areas and serve as a main hiring hub for local LAD dealerships. In fact, over 50 LAD dealerships across several states—including Minnesota, Florida, and Oregon—have hired techs from nine of the schools.

“We’re very excited to kick off 2026 with this donation to strengthen our school partnerships,” said Brittany Osterhout, Senior Manager of Corporate Sponsorships. “It’s a great way to show our appreciation for their programs and to actively support the next generation of automotive retail workers and technicians.”

The Technical School Partnership

As part of the Technical School Partnership, local LAD dealerships—working with their regional recruiter—are expected to maintain the relationship throughout the year by connecting with auto program students at least once a quarter. In turn, the schools will provide a year-end impact statement detailing how the donation was used.

Growth Powered by People: Camp Chevrolet & NEWTech Prep

Leasa Freter, Service Manager at Camp Chevrolet in Spokane, presented a $50,000 check to the automotive program at nearby NEWTech Prep, telling the audience how their partnership has contributed to operational growth for the store. She noted that through the program, Camp Chevrolet has hired 12 students in a number of positions, including body shop, technician, service advisor, and warranty clerk. She also added that they have hosted many students through job shadowing and internships, giving students invaluable dealership experience.

Leasa noted, “Ninety percent of the students who we have hired through NEWTech have stayed with Lithia & Driveway, and we want to give back to the program that helps us out.”
