At nearly 300 LAD stores across the nation, Trees for Test Drives, launched in April on Earth Day, returned in conjunction with National Drive Electric Week at the end of September.
The Trees For Test Drives initiative plants one tree for every test drive of a fuel-efficient, hybrid, plug-in hybrid, or electric vehicle. Test drives are logged by store sales representatives using a simple QR code. Almost all LAD stores are participating in the initiative, as well as participating in an internal contest for the greatest number of test drives executed.
As test drives are recorded, LAD’s partners at the Arbor Day Foundation will plant long leaf pine trees across Eglin Air Force Base located in the Florida Panhandle. Through our collective efforts to promote electric, hybrid and fuel-efficient vehicles, we are helping to restore this biodiverse forest for generations to come.
Employees at the LAD home office in Medford also had the opportunity to sign up for test drives of green vehicles on September 30, with a public test drive event on October 1. National Public Radio was on hand to capture the reactions of first-time EV drivers for an upcoming Soundscapes episode.
